Residents of District 9 are invited to attend an upcoming community meeting on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Franklin Township Hall, located at 3922 Monroe Rd in Tipton.

The informal gathering will feature County Administrator Kimberly Murphy, Commissioner Jim Van Doren (District 9 – Western Adrian Township, excluding the City of Adrian; Franklin, Clinton, and Macon Townships), and Sheriff Troy Bevier. Together, they will be available to answer questions, hear concerns, and provide updates on county programs, services, and initiatives.

This meeting offers a valuable opportunity for residents to connect directly with local leadership in a relaxed, conversational setting. Whether you have specific questions or simply want to stay informed about what’s happening in Lenawee County, community members are encouraged to attend and participate.

No formal presentations are planned—just open dialogue and an opportunity to engage with your county leaders.

All District 9 residents and interested community members are welcome.

Adults in Lenawee County have an opportunity to gain valuable skills to support youth facing mental health challenges through the Virtual Youth Mental Health First Aid certification course, led by Michigan State University Extension.

This evidence-based training is designed for adults ages 18 and older who interact with young people, including parents, caregivers, educators, coaches, and community members. Participants will learn how to recognize the signs of a mental health challenge or crisis, how to respond effectively, and how to connect youth with appropriate support and resources.

The course includes two hours of self-paced online pre-work, followed by a six-hour instructor-led training conducted virtually via Zoom. Upon completion, participants will be certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid.

Thanks to funding from the Great Lakes Rural Opioid Technical Assistance Regional Center, this training is offered at no cost to participants.

Pre-registration is required and can be completed online.Participants may choose from one of the following training sessions:

Bring your medications, sharps, and liquid prescriptions to safely dispose of them. Sharps must be placed in a proper sharps container or a sturdy plastic bottle with a secure lid for safety.

Residents of Lenawee County will have an opportunity to take an important step toward a fresh start at the upcoming Lenawee County Expungement Fair, scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2026, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. on the third floor of the Lenawee County Courthouse.

This event is hosted by the Lenawee County Bar Association in partnership with Safe & Just Michigan and Legal Services of South Central Michigan. The Expungement Fair is designed to help individuals begin the process of clearing eligible criminal records, which can improve access to employment, housing, and educational opportunities.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with legal professionals and trained volunteers who can help determine eligibility, answer questions, and assist with completing the necessary paperwork. The goal is to make the expungement process more accessible and provide clear guidance for those who may not know where to start.

Individuals interested in participating are encouraged to register and complete a pre-screening in advance.

The Lenawee County Bar Association invites the public to attend its second annual Law Day celebration on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Courtroom 302 of the Lenawee County Courthouse.

This special event will honor the foundational principles of law, justice, and liberty that shape our community and nation. The program will include a thoughtful reflection on the role law plays in society and culminate in the presentation of the Liberty Bell Award—a prestigious recognition awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the cause of justice and liberty in Lenawee County.

Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

We are proud to share this opportunity to come together in recognition of the enduring importance of the rule of law and civic engagement.

Lenawee County is a proud participant in the annual E-race Stigma 5K!  This year's event will be held on Sunday, May 17th in downtown Adrian, starting at the Farmer's Market. All proceeds support health education programs in Lenawee County. The goal of the event is to increase the awareness of mental health issues with a focus on overall health and wellness; mind, body, and spirit. 

Pricing: $15.00 for 5k participants, $5.00 kids dash. $20 on race day - CASH ONLY.

Residents of Jackson, Lenawee, and Hillsdale counties with household income up to $69,000 in 2025 can get their tax returns prepared FREE through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at Community Action Agency.

Automated appointment scheduling for Tax Year 2025 will open January 26, 2026, and there is an option to leave a message for callback, if necessary. Appointment times fill up quickly, but CAA will continue to add additional appointment times throughout the tax season based on volunteer availability.

New in 2026! If you don't want to wait for an appointment and are comfortable uploading your documents yourself, you can go to www.GetMyRefund.org/CAAJLH and submit all of your documents online. The VITA volunteers will still prepare your tax return at no cost to you and notify you when your tax return is ready to be filed.
