[ARCHIVED] November is Diabetes Awareness Month


Do you know if you're at risk for Type 2 diabetes? You are at a higher risk if you are overweight or obese OR if Hispanic, Asian American or of African American descent. Other risk factors include hypertension, or high blood pressure (140/99mmHg or higher); low levels of HDL ("Good") cholesterol; history of gestational diabetes while pregnant, sedentary lifestyle, family history - having a parent or sibling who's been diagnosed with this condition, polycystic ovary syndrome, Age - diabetes is more common as we age.
