The Lenawee Department on Aging on behalf of the Lenawee County TRIAD is pleased to announce an upcoming event for all area residents, Empowering Seniors: Scam Prevention Workshop, on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 12:30 PM at the Morenci Senior Center. TRIAD is a collaboration of seniors, law enforcement, and community organizations working together to reduce criminal victimization affecting older persons.
This special workshop, focused on empowering seniors to protect themselves from scams, will provide valuable insights and practical tools to navigate the digital and real-world landscapes where scams often lurk. Led by Erica Lamley from the Lenawee Department on Aging, the workshop will cover a range of topics tailored to the unique challenges faced by older adults.
“In an effort to safeguard the well-being of our cherished older adults, we are excited to bring this workshop to Lenawee County,” states Cari Rebottaro, the Lenawee Department on Aging Director. “It can be hard to determine what is a scam, what is real, and what advice you should take. Attendees will have the opportunity to share their experiences, ask questions, and engage in discussions with local experts.”
By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a heightened awareness of potential threats and the confidence to protect themselves from scams. This initiative not only equips older adults with the tools they need to safeguard their financial assets but also fosters a sense of empowerment and security in their daily lives.
