PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 13, 2021

Lenawee County Government Building

Universal Masking Required in Indoor Common Areas Adrian, MI - To clarify an August 6, 2021 press release announcing universal masking in indoor common areas of Lenawee County Buildings, please be advised that the restriction applies only to those buildings that are owned or operated by Lenawee County government in fulfillment of our official county government functions.

Lenawee County government, with over 550 employees, has an obligation to our staff and the people that we come in contact with to take reasonable precautions to prevent virus spread. As such,  this step was taken to protect our employees and our customers, and by extension our community,  from the spread of COVID 19 and to specifically address the more virulent spread of the Delta variant.  This directive to County offices does not require any other business or employer in Lenawee County to take any specific action. It is up to each individual, employer, and business in Lenawee County to make these decisions for themselves.

Also, while we certainly encourage all eligible community members to be vaccinated, as it is the best defense against the virus, there is no mandate to do so, and all county residents, vaccinated and not, will receive the same level of service by County offices. It is precisely this desire to continue service to all community members in a safe manner that drives the current masking requirement.
