Pfizer Vaccine Available This Weekend for Those 12 and Older
Lenawee County is pleased to announce that appointments are available this weekend for anyone aged 12 or older at our COVID-19 Pfizer vaccination clinic on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 12:30 – 2:30 PM at the Lenawee County Fairgrounds. You can pre-schedule your vaccination appointment at www.lenawee.mi.us or by phone at 517-264-4501; walk-in appointments are also available.
Yesterday, members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), voted unanimously on recommending Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for adolescents 12-15 years of age under the FDA’s Emergency Use Authorization.
CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky accepted these recommendations. In her statement, she specified, “Though most children with COVID-19 have mild or no symptoms, some children can get severely ill and require hospitalization. There have also been rare, tragic cases of children dying from COVID-19 and its effects, including multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, or MIS-C. This official CDC recommendation follows Monday’s FDA decision to authorize emergency use of this vaccine in 12- through 15-year-old adolescents and is another important step to getting out of the COVID-19 pandemic, and closer to normalcy.”
“We are very pleased to begin to offer this to our community immediately,” stated Martin Marshall, Lenawee County Administrator. “Once fully vaccinated, you are no longer required to quarantine if exposed to COVID-19. This is going to be a big step to returning to normal for many of our teenagers.”
Those that cannot make Saturday’s vaccine will have another opportunity this coming week as a Pfizer clinic is scheduled at the Morenci Fire Station on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 5-7 PM. Appointments are not necessary.
“We know it is hard for our Morenci residents to come all the way into Adrian,” stated David Stimpson, Chair of the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners. “The Emergency Operations Center wanted to offer this clinic specifically for the community in Morenci, so there is an easy, accessible way for them to get vaccinated.”
