ADRIAN, MI – Effective immediately, all providers across Lenawee County, have paused administration of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine based on the recommendation from the CDC and FDA. All vaccine clinics, including the one planned at Adrian College this week, will be administering either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

Safety of our residents remains our top priority, and we await the results of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) this week as they investigate the rare cases of adverse reactions to the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Of the 6.8 million doses of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine distributed nationally, only six adverse reactions have been reported.

If you have received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine and develop a severe headache, abdominal pain, leg pain, or shortness of breath within three weeks after vaccination, please contact your health care provider. Health care providers are asked to report adverse events to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).

Any vaccine symptoms (even mild) should be reported to V-safe. When you get your vaccine, you receive a link to get the “V-safe After Vaccination Health Checker” application for your phone. Through V-safe, you can quickly tell the CDC if you have any side effects after getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
