FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lenawee County Health Department Begins COVID-19 Vaccinations
December 30, 2020
The Lenawee County Health Department (LCHD) began vaccinating medical first responders and LCHD staff providing vaccinations to the community with the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine will initially be available in limited quantities and will be distributed per the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 Vaccination Prioritization Guidance https://www.michigan.gov/documents/coronavirus/MI_COVID-19_Vaccination_Prioritization_Guidance_710349_7.pdf.
Lisa Brighton, Firefighter/EMT with Cambridge Township stated that she received the COVID-19 vaccine “because I am a first responder and I want to protect myself, family and the patients I am treating”.
Beginning next week, staff and residents of long-term care facilities will begin to be vaccinated through a federal partnership with CVS and Walgreens pharmacies.
As more vaccine becomes available, the Health Department will continue to vaccinate the community based on the prioritization guidance from Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The Health Department will notify the community through media releases to radio stations and newspapers, social media posts and updates to the Health Department website when the vaccine is available to the various priority groups.
More information regarding the COVID vaccine can be found at the health department website at https://www.lenawee.mi.us/983/COVID-19---Vaccine . Individuals with questions regarding whether they should receive the COVID-19 vaccine when it is available, should consult with their healthcare provider.
