[ARCHIVED] Lenawee Medical Center Employees Test Positive for COVID-19

Three employees of Lenawee Medical Care Facility have tested positive for COVID-19. Previous baseline testing of all residents of Lenawee Medical Care Facility was completed on May 13, 2020, showing all negative results. Additionally, all staff and residents of the facility were tested following identification of the first positive employee; those test results are pending. All residents and employees have been and continue to be monitored for symptoms of COVID-19.

Lenawee Medical Care Facility is working closely with the Lenawee County Health Department to ensure residents and staff are safe by following Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Guidelines. The facility has implemented strategies to protect their residents and employees from COVID-19 which include;

  • educating staff on the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and how it is spread
  • quarantining all new patients for 14 days upon arrival to the facility
  • taking temperatures of all residents and staff daily
  • monitoring resident’s respiratory status daily
  • wearing of masks by all staff members
  • increased level of personal protective equipment in close patient contact situations
  • closure of all communal spaces and group activities

This is another reminder that COVID-19 is present in our community. The Lenawee County Health Department urges all residents to practice prevention strategies to protect the most vulnerable members of our community such as; avoiding crowds and gatherings, wearing cloth face coverings when in all enclosed public spaces and when outdoors if unable to maintain 6 feet of distance, washing hands frequently and staying home when sick.
