The Lenawee County Health Department is issuing the following advisory to protect the health of the public in Lenawee County:
Lenawee County is seeing an influx of individuals to seasonal residences that is atypical for this time of year. Some may be seeking shelter from areas with significant COVID-19 community spread, others may be returning to Michigan from winter stays in warmer climates. While we understand the desire to seek shelter in areas with fewer COVID-19 cases, this potentially poses an unnecessary risk to all residents of Lenawee County.
The increased population to Lenawee County puts a substantial strain on our community as travelers seek supplies, such as groceries and household items, as well as potentially needing health care in the event they become sick.
If you choose to travel to your seasonal home or return to your Lenawee County home from travel, the Lenawee County Health Department, is advising that you abide by the following guidelines:
1. If you are sick, stay at home and do not leave your residence except to obtain medical care.
2. If you have symptoms associated with COVID-19 (fever, dry cough, shortness of breath), contact your healthcare provider.
3. All individuals traveling to seasonal homes or returning from winter homes in other states should self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival to your destination. Arrive with supplies necessary to be at home for 14 days.
4. All residents, whether full time or seasonal, should adhere to the Governor’s Stay at Home order and only leave their home to obtain essential supplies and services. If you do need to go out for essential services, only 1 person should go and please maintain 6 feet of distance from others. It is recommended that you wear a cloth face covering when going out for essential services.
5. Stay physically separate from those who do not live in your home.
By following these simple guidelines, the risk for spreading COVID-19 lowers significantly, thus protecting everyone who lives, works, and plays in Lenawee County.
This advisory will remain in effect until lifted and is endorsed by local public health, local law enforcement, and Lenawee County leadership.
