The Lenawee Department on Aging salutes volunteers!
A vital part of health care is being able to get to medical appointments. As some older adults are not able to or elect not to drive to these appointments, the Lenawee Department on Aging is proud to utilize grant funds to provide non-emergency medical transportation. This is done though volunteer drivers.
As coordinator of this program, I have seen the impact that volunteers have on the lives of the older adults they serve, both in safe delivery to the destination and in providing a service to promote continued independence.
Through our grant, we are able to provide mileage reimbursement to drivers traveling both in and out of the county. If you have time to help keep our friends and neighbors living independently, please give me a call to join our team of volunteers at 264-5280.
I am Amy Young, and I thank ALL the volunteer drivers that I have the pleasure of working with – past, present and future.
