WHEREAS, Jim Lyall coached for Adrian College for 35 years; in 2010, he joined a taskforce to launch a successful collegiate football program with Siena Heights University; and in 2014, was named Mid-States Football Association’s Mideast Coach of the Year. Jim's players have totaled 117 on-field all-conference honors, six academic All-Americans, three NCAA Division III All-Americans, and three NAIA All-Americans. Four of his former players have moved on to play football at the professional level.

Jim also worked for 15 years as a special education teacher in adapted physical education; was named the 1989 “Teacher of the Year” by the Lenawee County Intermediate School District; was awarded the “Volunteer of the Year” by the Lenawee County Special Olympics; and has served as the director of the Special Olympics in Lenawee and Monroe counties.

Jim’s contributions have extended far beyond the field; he has been an exemplary mentor to emerging generations by setting a sincere example and instilling core values.

THEREFORE, the Board of Commissioners wishes to recognize those who serve our community well; and Jim Lyall IS HEREBY Officially commended for his dedicated service to the residents of Lenawee County.
