Falls are the leading cause of injury for older adults—but they don’t have to be a normal part of aging. If you or a loved one are concerned about balance or the risk of falling, there are steps you can take now to stay steady and independent.
This September, in recognition of Fall Prevention Awareness Month, WellWise Services Area Agency on Aging is hosting a series of free Fall Prevention Events across the region, including a couple stops in Lenawee County. These sessions are designed to empower older adults, caregivers, and families with practical tools and resources to reduce the risk of falling.

- How to get up from a fall safely and fall in ways that minimize injury
- Techniques for assisting someone with balance challenges
- Live demonstrations from Physical Therapists on how to properly size and use walkers and canes
- Ways to reduce your fall risk through medication management and simple home safety changes
- Access to free consultations and resources from Options Counselors to help with home modifications, assistive devices, and other support services
These events are free to attend and open to the public. Whether you’re an older adult, a caregiver, or simply interested in learning more, you’ll walk away with valuable information and tools to stay safe.
