Michigan Public Act 375 of 2010 states that individuals shall not tattoo, brand, microblade, or perform body piercing on another individual unless that procedure occurs at a body art facility licensed by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). The Lenawee County Health Department participates in the licensing of body art facilities by reviewing plans for new establishments and conducting routine inspections at all licensed body art locations in Lenawee County.
Body art licenses in Michigan are specific to a location. There is no license or certification that allows an individual to perform body art services at a private home or any other location that is not licensed by MDHHS.
