The Michigan Public Health Code (Public Act 368 of 1978, as amended) establishes requirements and administrative rules for constructing, licensing, and operating public swimming pools in Michigan. The Lenawee County Health Department (LCHD) inspects licensed public swimming pools on a yearly basis. A public swimming pool license is issued by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, & Energy (EGLE) based on inspection results and a licensing recommendation from the LCHD.
In addition to properly operating and maintaining a public swimming pool, license holders must submit monthly operation reports and two safe bacteriological water samples to the LCHD every month they're open.
