Message from the District Coordinator

Matt Shane

Often, the first thing people think of when they think about MSU Extension is agriculture, and while we're proud of all the work we do related to health, the environment, community development, and youth education, we're equally proud of that agriculture tradition. We've just wrapped up two of our biggest ag education efforts of the year -- teaching consumers through Breakfast on the Farm and producers through Agriculture Innovation Day.

Breakfast on the Farm bridges the farm-to-fork gap and teaches thousands of attendees each year about how a modern farm produces healthy, safe food and how that food makes its way to our dining room tables. Ag Innovation Day 2017 provided hundreds of beef, dairy and forage farmers the latest in-depth research on the future of forages and livestock, giving farmers the knowledge to meet growing consumer demands while remaining profitable. These events highlight our commitment to supporting Michigan agriculture from both the consumer and producer perspective.
Visit the Breakfast on the Farm website to learn more, including how to host a future event in your own community. Also, if there were farmers who were unable to attend the Ag Innovation Day, they can watch for materials from the educational sessions, which will soon be posted on the Ag Innovation Day website.
