Lenawee Department on Aging

Caregiver hands, Daybreak sunrise, Caring for Cargivers

Are you a caregiver? Or do you think you may be a caregiver?  I am Tammy Jewell, Director of Daybreak.  At the Lenawee Department on Aging we believe that caregivers need support to make the best of the caregiver experience.  As the diagnosis your loved one is living with gets bigger, you will spend less time with them and more time with the challenges.  You will need to allow others to come into your loved ones life to help with tasks so that you can enjoy the person.  The earlier these supports are in place, the better the acceptance by you both.

The Lenawee Department on Aging is prepared to help find resources and supports that will allow you to put the relationship before the tasks.

Resources can include assistance in the home, respite opportunities, and support groups.  Give us a call at 517-264-52-80 or find the Older Adult Resource Guide on the website at LenaweeSeniors.org
