WHO ARE WE
The Lenawee County Office of the Public Defender is a Public County Organization that Is committed to excellence in the representation of indigent citizens charged with misdemeanor and felonies.
We have an experienced staff of four (4) attorneys whose sole function is to represent those defendants assigned to this office by the Court. Our personnel policy prohibits the attorneys from doing legal work outside of cases assigned by the Court. As a result, our sole focus and effort is directed toward our indigent client, and not retained client or other legal matters.
Further, this office is committed to maintaining the attorney-client privilege. We cannot and will not discuss our client’s cases with anyone including family members or significant others.

All charged misdemeanors and felonies are initiated in the 2A district court in Lenawee County, located on the 1st floor at 425 N. Main Street, Adrian, Michigan. (517-264-4675)
In the event probable cause is proven that a felony was committed and that it is probable that the defendant committed the felony, the District Court will send all cases to the 39th Circuit Court, located on the 3rd floor at 425 N. Main Street, Adrian, Michigan. (517-264-4603)
